Scientific Mining Journal, which is published i n open access electronic environment and i n printed, is a periodical scientific journal of the Chamber of Mining Engineers.of Turkey. The name of the journal was "Mining" until June 2016 and it has been changed to "Scientific Mining Journal" since September 2016 because it can be confused with popular journals with similar names and the ISSN number has been updated from 0024-9416 to 2564-7024.

Scientific Mining Journal, published four times a year (March-June-September-December), aims to disseminate original scientific studies which are conducted according to the scientific norms and publication ethics at national and international scale, to scientists, mining engineers, the public; and thus to share scientific knowledge with society. The journal is in English.

The journal covers theoretical, experimental, and applied research articles, which reflects the findings and results of an original research i n the field of mining engineering; review articles, which assess, evaluates, and interprets the findings of a comprehensive review of sufficient number of scientific articles and summarize them at present information and technology level; technical notes, which may be defined as a short article that describes a novel methodology o r technique; a case studies, which are based on the theoretical o r real professional practice and involves systematic data collection and analysis.

The journal gives priority to works that will enable the advancement of current available information necessary to serve humanity with nonrenewable mineral resources with the perspective of sustainable mining principles. In this context, mine exploration, mineral resource modeling, surveying, mine economics and feasibility, geostatistics, rock mechanics and geotechnics, diggability studies, underground and surface mining, mine design, support design in underground mines and tunnels, rock penetration and rock fragmentation, mine production planning and pit optimization, mine health and safety management, mine ventilation, methane emission and drainage in underground coal mines, mineral processing and beneficiation, process mineralogy, analytical techniques, mineral comminution, mineral classification and separation, flotation/flocculation, solid/liquid separation, physical enrichment methods, hydro and biometallurgy, production metallurgy, modeling and simulation, instrumentation and process control, recycling and waste processing, mining law, environmental health and management, transportation, machinery and equipment selection and planning, coal gasification, marble technology, industrial minerals, space mining, submarine mining and mechanization are included in the journal content.

Submitted manuscripts are evaluated by the editorial board and expert referees independently in accordance with the best practices in academic publishing. The publishing rights of the manuscripts, approved for publication at the end of the evaluation process, are transferred to the Chamber of Mining Engineers by the authors.

GUIDE FOR AUTHORS AND MANUSCRIPT FORMATTING RULES

1. ARTICLE TYPES
The journal covers theoretical, experimental, and applied research articles, which reflects the findings and results of an original research in the field of Mining Engineering; review articles, which assess, evaluates, and interprets the findings of a comprehensive review of sufficient number of scientific articles and summarize them at present information and technology level; technical notes, which may be defined as a short article that describes a novel methodology or technique; case studies, which are based on real professional practices and involves systematic data collection and analysis.
2. SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPTS
Submission of manuscripts to Scientific Mining Journal can only be from the journal’s internet site at http://www.mining.org.tr. You have to submit your manuscripts prepared in accordance with the following instructions as a "Microsoft Word Document" with "doc" or "docx" extension.
Manuscripts submitted for publication must not have been published elsewhere, either in whole or in part or under a different title or different authorship, and it must not concurrently be under review for publication elsewhere. Complying with the research and publication ethics is considered an indisputable precondition to be published.
3. MANUSCRIPT FORMAT GUIDELINES
3.1. Template
You can download the template from here to edit your manuscript.
3.2. Manuscript Length
The total length of the manuscript should not exceed 14 pages.
3.3. Page Layout
Text area on Microsoft Word page should be set to A4 paper size (21.0 x 29.7 cm); top margin 2.5 cm, bottom margin 2.5 cm, left margin 2.5 cm, right margin 2.5 cm.
3.4. Font
Manuscripts should be written in Microsoft Word with Arial 10 font. Arial 12 fonts should be used only in the title of manuscript. Bold texts should not be used except headings. The entire document should be single-spaced and 6 pt spacing will be left after paragraphs.
3.5. Front Page
In the front page, the title of the manuscript, author names, affiliations, e-mail addresses and ORCID numbers, an abstract with keywords should be written. The title of the manuscript must be in lowercase and should be chosen to be short and to best reflect the subject.
3.6. Authors and Affiliations
All author names are listed together and separated by commas. Affiliations should be keyed to the author's name with superscript words (a, b, c, etc.) just below the names. E-mail addresses and ORCID numbers should be keyed to the corresponding and other author’s name with superscript asteriks at the bottom of the front page.

The authors who have contributed equally should be marked with a symbol (†) in the author list of the manuscript uploaded at submission.

3.7. Abstract
The abstract should briefly and concisely convey the purpose, content and the results of the study, not exceeding 175 words in length. In the abstract, minimize the use of abbreviations and do not cite references, figures or tables.
3.8. Keywords
All article types require a maximum of 5 keywords.
3.9. Main Text
The main text of the manuscript should be written as one column. The text should be fully justified. All pages, including the front page, must be numbered.
3.10. Sections
For Original Research articles, it is recommended to organize your manuscript in the following sections or their equivalents:
INTRODUCTION (with no subheadings)
MATERIALS AND METHODS
RESULTS
DISCUSSION
3.10.1. Headings
All headings should be written in bold and lowercase, with the characters beginning with the leftmost of the text area. Headings of each section (except Introduction, Acknowledgements and References sections) should be numbered according to the numerical system, such as 1., 2., etc.
3.10.2. Subheadings
Subheadings should be written in lowercase, beginning from the left most of the text area. They also should be numbered according to numerical system such as 1.1., 1.2., 3.1.1., 3.1.2., etc. You may insert up to 4 subheading levels into your manuscript.
3.11. Acknowledgments
This is a short text to acknowledge the contributions of specific colleagues, institutions, or agencies that aided the efforts of the authors.
3.12. Table, Figure and Image Guidelines
Tables, figures and images should be referred in the text just before they placed.
Tables should not be added as images. Only horizontal lines should be used on the tables. Individual tables or figures should not be longer than one page.
All text and numbers in tables and figures must be in Arial 10 font.
3.12.1. Captions
Table captions should be in sentence case and numbered at the top of the table. Figure captions should be in sentence case, and also numbered just below of them. Captions should be of Arial Narrow 10 font and italic. Figure panels are referred to by bold capital letters in brackets: (A), (B), (C), (D), etc.
If a table or figure is quoted as it is from any reference, the cited reference should be indicated in parentheses at the end of the relevant captions.
3.12.2. Image Size and Resolution Requirements
Figures and images can be inserted in color, but resolution should be set to at least 300 dpi. The text in the figures should be legible and of high quality. The smallest visible text should be no less than 8 points in height when viewed at actual size. Solid lines should not be broken up. Any lines in the graphic should be no smaller than 2 points wide.
3.12.3 Licenses for the Figures, Tables, and Images
It is the responsibility of the authors to acquire the licenses for all figures, tables, and images in the manuscripts.
3.13. Equations
Equations should be inserted in editable format from the equation editor. The equations should start from the paragraph beginning line. Symbols used in equations should be explained together with their units. Each equation should be numbered and displayed on the rightmost edge of the writing area, and this number should be referred in the text.

The symbols in the equations should be shown in the form of "symbol: description, unit". Sample:

3.14. Abbreviations
The use of abbreviations should be kept to a minimum. Non-standard abbreviations should be avoided unless they appear at least four times, and defined upon first use in the main text.
Abbreviations should be written as uppercase characters in parentheses within their first appearance in the text and no space between the characters (e.g., Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (UCTEA)).
3.15. Decimal Numbers
The decimal numbers should be separated by "." while "," should be used for the thousand digits.
3.16. Units
We encourage the use of Standard International Units in all manuscripts.
3.17. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
There are a few simple ways to maximize your article’s discoverability. We recommend the following steps below to improve search results of your article:
include a few of your article's keywords in the title of the article,
pick keywords using a mix of generic and more specific terms on the article subject(s),
use the maximum amount of keywords in the first 2 sentences of the abstract,
use some of the keywords in level 1 headings.
4. REFERENCES
All references cited in the manuscript should be listed under the title "REFERENCES" at the end of the text. Arial 9 fonts should be used. References should be written in alphabetical order by author surnames. The DOI should be provided if available.
4.1. In-text Citations
All citations in the text, figures or tables must be in the reference list and vice-versa.
Citation to any reference within the text should be made in author surname and year format.
For works by a single author, include the surname, followed by the year,
For works by two authors, include both surnames, followed by the year,
For works by more than two authors, include only the surname of the first author followed by et al., followed by the year.

Any inclusion of verbatim text must be contained in quotation marks and clearly reference the original source.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Publication Ethics

The Scientific Mining Journal is committed to complying with COPE's (Committee on Publication Ethics) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines (https://publicationethics.org/guidance/Guidelines). Our editors are responsible for following the COPE’s guidelines for editors, and our reviewers must comply with COPE's ethical guidelines for peer reviewers.

Below the responsibilities and roles of the Editors, Reviewers, Authors and Publisher are given. Scientific Mining Journal aims to publish peer-reviewed original research and review articles in English. All the article has to be submitted with an English abstract.

Responsibilities and roles of the Editors

Primary role of an editor is to management of the journal.
Editors have final decision right on the submitted articles. Successful submission and reviewing process does not guaranty an article to be published. The articles are selected for publication if the majority of the editor votes are positive for the article.

Editors have right and responsibility to communicate from the manuscript submission system also editors can communicate directly in force majeure events.

Preparations of the documents related with preparation and submission of the guidelines for authors.

Editors are responsible to treat authors with proper dignity, courtesy, fair behavior irrespective from the content of the article. Also, editors have responsibility to behave indifferent to all authors from the different country, race, culture.

Editors have responsibility to the dictate the process of submission of an article.

Editors are responsible from the timely publishing of the accepted articles.

For any submitted article corresponding editor is responsible for the selecting at least two reviewer considering the expertise of the reviewers related the article content.

Responsibilities and roles of the Authors

It is author’s responsibility to ensure that the manuscript presents a technically as well as grammatically correct copy.

Manuscripts have to be prepared according to according to the following the rules provided in “Guidelines for Authors”.

All manuscript has to be submitted by the online system provided by the Scientific Mining Journal.

Corresponding author is responsible for the intellectual property of the work submitted. In case of plagiarism and other non-ethical act, corresponding author is responsible.

Responsibilities and Roles of the Reviewers

The manuscript should not be discussed to, disclosed to, shown to third parties. Where third parties are defined as: anyone except editors and corresponding author.

To judge the manuscript objectively, free from the any bias including racial, national and cultural biases.

The reviewer has to warn the editors in any case of conflict of interest.

To write unbiased feedback in timely manner.

Articles submitted by the authors are published free from the charge.

Sharing Article

Authors can share only their articles by clear stating that the corresponding work published in the Scientific Mining Journal.

Article withdrawal

Only corresponding author can withdraw the work prior to the hard copy publication. After the publication it is impossible to withdraw the work.
